Services Offered

Wilshire Law Firm specializes in personal injury litigation, focusing on representing individuals who have suffered harm due to the negligence or wrongdoing of others. Their comprehensive range of services aims to cover various types of accidents and injuries, ensuring victims receive the legal support necessary to pursue compensation and justice. While the provided reviews specifically mention car accidents, their broader practice areas typically include:

  • Car Accidents: Representing victims of various types of vehicular collisions, including T-bone accidents, rear-end collisions, head-on crashes, and multi-vehicle pile-ups. This includes cases involving negligent drivers, such as the Lyft driver mentioned in a review.

  • Truck Accidents: Handling complex cases involving commercial trucks (18-wheelers, semi-trucks), which often result in catastrophic injuries due to the sheer size and weight of these vehicles.

  • Motorcycle Accidents: Advocating for injured motorcyclists, who are particularly vulnerable on the road and often face severe injuries.

  • Wrongful Death: Representing families who have lost loved ones due to another party's negligence, seeking compensation for their profound loss.

  • Catastrophic Injuries: Handling cases involving life-altering injuries such as traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), spinal cord injuries, severe burns, and amputations, which require extensive medical care and long-term support.

  • Premises Liability: Representing individuals injured on someone else's property due to unsafe conditions, including slip and falls, dog bites, and inadequate security.

  • Product Liability: Pursuing claims against manufacturers, distributors, or retailers for injuries caused by defective or dangerous products.

  • Pedestrian and Bicycle Accidents: Protecting the rights of pedestrians and cyclists who are often severely injured when hit by vehicles.

  • Civil Rights: Although less highlighted in these reviews, large personal injury firms sometimes extend their practice to civil rights cases where individual liberties have been violated.

The firm's stated objective is to make the legal experience "easier and fact based" for their clients, focusing on securing maximum compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages incurred due to the accident.

Features / Highlights

Wilshire Law Firm, as indicated by client feedback, presents a mixed set of features and highlights. It is crucial to consider both the positive and negative experiences when evaluating their suitability.

  • Accessibility and Responsiveness (Initial Stage): One client initially found the team "very thankful that I did because I couldn't ask for a more real time down to earth legal team." This suggests that in some instances, they provide a responsive and approachable first impression, making the early stages of a traumatic experience "easier and fact based."

However, significant concerns raised in another review highlight areas of considerable concern and should be treated as crucial features to consider:

  • Questionable Fee Structure: A primary concern is their contingent fee arrangement. The review explicitly states they take "40% plus fees," which is higher than the "standard personal injury contract" of 33% that typically includes fees. This structure led to a significantly lower net settlement for the client, with "over $30,000" taken from a $60,000 settlement, leaving "less than $10,000." This distinct financial approach needs thorough scrutiny by potential clients.

  • Additional Fees and Charges: Beyond the 40% contingency, the firm reportedly "charged over $12,000 in fees on top of the 40%." This suggests a separate billing for various operational costs, which deviates from standard practices where contingency fees often cover all related expenses.

  • High Staff Turnover: The mention of a "revolving door when it comes to personal" and "three different case workers" indicates high staff turnover. This can lead to a lack of continuity in communication and case management, causing frustration for clients and requiring them to re-provide information multiple times.

  • Information Management Issues: The firm reportedly "lost my information several times had to regive it to them several times. Which they charge me every time for this." This points to potential organizational shortcomings and raises concerns about efficiency and fairness in billing for internal errors.

  • Allegations of Misleading Information: A client claimed they were "lied to the entire time," which is a severe accusation concerning transparency and trust. The sentiment "They are only fighting for themselves" and "take advantage of someone in their time of need" reflects a profound dissatisfaction with their ethical conduct from that client's perspective.

These features, particularly the negative ones, suggest a need for extreme caution and meticulous review of any contract before engaging with Wilshire Law Firm, especially regarding their fee structure and how additional costs are handled.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the provided information, Wilshire Law Firm does not explicitly advertise traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in the marketing sense. Instead, their fee structure for personal injury cases is typically based on a contingency fee arrangement. This means that clients generally do not pay upfront legal fees, and the firm's payment is contingent upon winning the case or securing a settlement.

However, the provided review highlights a specific aspect of their fee structure that potential clients should be acutely aware of:

  • Contingency Fee Structure: The firm reportedly takes "40% plus fees" from the settlement. This is presented by one reviewer as potentially higher than the "standard personal injury contract," which they claim typically takes 33% inclusive of fees. The review details a case where, from a $60,000 settlement, the firm took "over $30,000" (40% off the top) and additionally charged "over $12,000 in fees," leaving the client with "less than $10,000."

  • Conditional Reduced Fee: The review also mentions a specific condition for a reduced contingency fee: "If they settle your claim in 90 day they only take 30%." However, the reviewer notes that such quick settlements are "few and far between in a personal injury cars (sic)."

While the firm might present the "no upfront cost" model as a benefit (which is standard for personal injury firms), the details of their fee structure and how "fees" are added on top of the percentage cut are crucial points of consideration. It is imperative for any potential client to:

  • Read the Entire Contract Before Signing: As highlighted by the dissatisfied client, understanding the full terms, including the exact percentage and how additional costs/fees are calculated and deducted from the settlement, is non-negotiable.

  • Inquire About All Potential Charges: Ask for a detailed breakdown of what the contingency fee covers and what constitutes "fees" that are charged on top. Clarify if administrative costs, investigation costs, expert witness fees, etc., are part of the percentage or separate.

  • Compare Fee Structures: It is advisable to consult with other personal injury firms in California to compare their contingency fee percentages and how they handle additional costs, ensuring you understand the industry standard and find a firm whose financial terms align with your expectations.

Given the strong cautionary note in the review, potential clients should consider the firm's financial terms very carefully and seek absolute clarity before proceeding.

During this conversation, it would be prudent to ask detailed questions about their fee structure, transparency regarding all charges, and case management protocols to ensure full understanding before making any commitments.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For locals in California, particularly those in the San Diego area who have been involved in an accident and are considering legal action, Wilshire Law Firm presents itself as an option for personal injury representation. Its suitability for certain individuals may stem from its focus on accident cases and its presence in a convenient San Diego location. However, it is imperative for locals to approach this firm with thorough due diligence, considering both the positive and significant negative feedback provided by past clients.

On the positive side, the firm's location at 3511 Camino del Rio S, Suite 400, in San Diego's Mission Valley offers excellent accessibility. This central position, easily reachable by major freeways and public transit, can be a practical advantage for clients seeking local legal services without extensive travel burdens. For individuals who have just experienced a traumatic accident, having a conveniently located firm can ease the logistical stress of pursuing a claim.

Furthermore, the firm's specialization in personal injury law, including car accidents and other serious injuries, aligns with a significant need within the California community. For victims of negligence, having a legal team that focuses on this specific area of law can offer a pathway to seeking compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. One client's positive initial experience highlighted a "real time down to earth legal team" that made their experience "easier and fact based," suggesting that in some instances, the firm can provide responsive and clear guidance during a difficult time.

However, prospective local clients must give considerable weight to the detailed negative review. The concerns regarding the firm's fee structure (40% plus additional fees), alleged lack of transparency, high staff turnover, and reported issues with information management are critical considerations. The strong cautionary advice to "READ THE ENTIRE CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING" and the warning that "They are only fighting for themselves" are severe allegations that require careful personal investigation. For Californians, who often rely on trust and clear communication in legal matters, these points of concern are significant.

In conclusion, while Wilshire Law Firm offers the potential for legal representation in personal injury cases and benefits from a highly accessible location in San Diego, its suitability for locals hinges entirely on the individual's comfort level with the potential financial arrangements and service delivery issues highlighted by a former client. It is strongly recommended that any local considering this firm conduct a thorough review of the contract, ask detailed questions about all fees, and perhaps compare their terms with other reputable personal injury firms in California to ensure full transparency and align with their expectations for fair and ethical legal representation.

Let me start by saying I do not normally write reviews only when I deem it necessary, and this was necessary. I do not want to see get ripped off. Wish I would have reviewed them before signing the paperwork. THERE IS NO ETHICAL OR MORAL COMPASS, WITH THIS LAW FIRM. They are scam artist. They only care about lining their pockets. READ THE ENTIRE CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING. They take 40% plus fees. Not a standard personal injury contract. Standard only take 33% that includes fees. It was my fault for not reading the entire contract. Out of $60,000 settlement. I ended up with less than $10,000. They took over $30,000 from me. Usually the lawyers take only a third after paying the bills. This lawyers doesn't. They took their 40% off the top and charged over $12,000 in fees on top of the 40%. If they settle your claim in 90 day they only take 30%. Which is few and far between in a personal injury cars. I am still having issues and in pain from my accident. Please go somewhere else. They have a revolving door when it comes to personal. I had three different case workers. Also, in the liens department, people were quitting. I was lied to the entire time. They lost my information several times had to regive it to them several times. Which they charge me every time for this. Not a fair or good lawyer or company. Very sad to see someone take advantage of someone in their time of need, and this law firm does that. Especially when you try to trust someone to fight for you. THEY ARE ONLY FIGHTING FOR THEMSELVES.

On top of it everything, immediately, so far; how my cases go and if they can keep their fees at 33% with consistent timeliness will be a determining factor as to whether I edit this post or not.

Sound like a scam. Representative wanted a picture of a pay stub and ID during initial phone consultation. When told that I wasn’t comfortable with that, they acted unprofessional. Do not recommend
