The Bexar County Family Justice Center stands out due to several key features that enhance its effectiveness and impact within the community:
"Under One Roof" Model: This is perhaps the most significant highlight. By co-locating police officers, prosecutors, victim advocates, counselors, and other essential service providers in a single location, the Center streamlines the process for victims, reducing the need to visit multiple agencies and repeatedly recount their experiences. This integrated approach fosters greater collaboration among professionals and provides a more seamless experience for those seeking help.
Free and Confidential Services: All services provided by the Center are free of charge and completely confidential, removing financial barriers and ensuring privacy for victims. This is crucial for encouraging individuals to come forward and seek assistance without added stress.
Comprehensive Support System: Beyond legal aid, the Center offers a wide range of wrap-around services that address the holistic needs of victims and their families, including crisis intervention, counseling, life skills training, and assistance with basic needs. This comprehensive approach aims to support individuals in every aspect of their journey to recovery and empowerment.
Focus on Empowerment and Education: A core goal of the Center is to empower and educate victims, helping them to understand their rights, build safety plans, and develop the tools necessary to break free from abusive relationships and regain control of their lives. Programs like the "Dream Center" focus on long-term sustainability and future planning.
Community Collaboration: The Center thrives on strong partnerships with over forty on and off-site agencies, including government, private, non-profit, and faith-based organizations. This extensive network ensures that clients receive tailored referrals and support even for services not directly offered on-site.
Victim-Centered Approach: The entire operation is designed with the victim's safety and well-being at its core. This includes providing trauma-informed care and focusing on reducing fear and anxiety for victims and their children.
While the Bexar County Family Justice Center primarily focuses on providing essential, free services to victims of domestic violence rather than traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in a commercial sense, their commitment to the community manifests in several key ways:
Always Free Services: The most significant "offer" is that all core services provided by the Bexar County Family Justice Center are entirely free for victims of domestic violence. This ensures that financial constraints never prevent someone from accessing critical help when they need it most.
Volunteer and Internship Opportunities: For those in the community looking to make a difference, the Center actively seeks volunteers and interns. This offers individuals a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital cause, gain experience in social services, and directly impact the lives of survivors. Opportunities include mentorships, assisting with group therapy sessions, life coaching, and support for special events and fundraising efforts.
Donation Programs: The Center welcomes various forms of donations to support its clients. This includes a program where old cell phones are reprogrammed and given to victims for 911 calls, providing a critical lifeline in emergencies. They also maintain a wish list of needed items, ranging from food and personal care items to children's books and educational materials. These donation opportunities allow the community to directly contribute to the well-being of families in crisis.
Community Outreach and Education: The Bexar County Family Justice Center is actively involved in community outreach, offering presentations and educational programs to increase awareness of domestic violence and the services available. These initiatives serve as a proactive "offer" of knowledge and resources to the wider Texas community, helping to prevent violence and inform potential victims and their allies.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding a recent interaction I had with your office concerning a protective order for myself and my children. On 2/20/2025, I reached out to your office for assistance, as I believe our lives are in danger. Unfortunately, I was met with a very rude and dismissive response from Richard Garcia. During our conversation, I was informed that my request for a protective order would be denied because I am allegedly under investigation. This explanation was not only vague but left me feeling helpless and unsupported. Mr. Garcia’s demeanor was combative and snappy, making it difficult for me to convey the urgency of my situation. When I requested to speak with a supervisor for further clarification and assistance, he abruptly hung up on me without providing any information or guidance. As a mother seeking to protect my children, this lack of empathy and professionalism is incredibly disheartening. It is alarming to think that in a situation where we are potentially in danger, the system designed to protect families can be so dismissive. I am left wondering: do we have to endure harm before a protective order is granted? This experience has left me feeling neglected and devalued, especially when I reached out for help. I urge you to address this matter promptly. Families in crisis need support and understanding, not dismissal. I hope to receive a response soon regarding the next steps I can take to ensure the safety of my children and myself. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. Sincerely, Debresha Bedford
Who’s in charge of employees at this place my wife is trying to get her protection order and someone on there end put on the file that she’s fine she talks to her Ex so they closed case and no this ain’t true and he calls to threaten to kill her and has a pending case, but someone in this office put this false report on her case ,now who’s in charge cuz this ain’t correct and needs to be addressed, honestly do t y’all see what this world has become and y’all just put her life at risk So no one is gonna ask me or even check Do I have to go to the federal level to file my complaint I’ve done this so many time ,federal bureau of investigation will investigate I’ve done this and I’m at this point so this whole place can get reviewed
Unorganized, good luck if you need immediate help. From the beginning I applied online to save time never got a call. Went in and no one could find me in the system, even though I had a case number. Took a week of back and forth to finally be in the system. They offered therapy so I made an appointment with reception. Then I received a call to reschedule due to reception not checking the schedule with the therapist. Showed up for my reschedule sat for 2 hours waiting to not be seen. This place makes you feel unimportant I know the services are free but this place is a joke. I was looking for help and feel more helpless than ever. CPS is a joke Family Justice center is a joke, the only people that are helping and listening are at Child Safe.
There so good here and ready to help especially in my situation. They didn't treat me like a victim more like a human
This place is a joke. There is no “justice” with this facility. I had to call and leave 5 or more messages to my “advocate” for months and still he never called back. I finally tracked him down only for him to tell me there’s not enough evidence because the other entity hasn’t responded to him to provide documentation. How is there no evidence because of that? The advocate then said the Prosecutor stated “even though she didn’t want the relationship after the assault it looks bad on her”. Now they are contacting me again and driving past my house frequently. This is Texas, where women are to blame for everything men do to them.
