Mr. Kalafat was honestly one of the reason I kept my head held high behind bars. He kept me hopeful and reassured me everything would be fine while holding me accountable for my actions. He is someone you need in your corner especially when u feel the world against you. Thank you so exceptional. That you so much for you time, humor, and dedication you showed me. -Jazmine Gibson
Jason lost my case and my appeal. He wouldn't communicate with my wife after I was found guilty. He just dissappeared and his firm would not even tell us what happened to him. Jason is a great disappointment during trial.
Jason Kalafat is a great attorney. I have interacted with Jason on multiple occasions now and I am always impressed by his insight and articulation. A lawyer who is both empathetic and knowledgeable is a rare commodity these days but Mr. Kalafat has both of these qualities in spades. Jason is a professional and I would happily recommend him to any friends or family that may need consultation, though I hope such a situation never arises.
Jason Kalafat is a great lawyer. Jason believes fervently in a legal system where individuals are innocent until proven guilty — something the public and media too often forget. Jason is a stickler for forthrightness and honesty and cares deeply about his clients. Perfection is not what makes a great criminal defense lawyer. What makes a great defense lawyer is compassion and caring for the client along with a passion to improve the legal system as it strives toward justice. Jason Kalafat embodies these characteristics in his law practice.
I have known Jason personally and professionally for over 15 years and have (and would continue to) recommended him to anyone in need of criminal defense representation. While Jason had a promising commercial litigation practice at the largest law firm in AZ, he decided to pursue his passion for criminal law defense and has not looked back since, working his way from public defender's office to becoming a successful criminal defense attorney. While I wish he still practiced full-time here in AZ, I am sure that he is making a positive impact for the criminal defense bar in DC (and our loss is their gain).
