Choosing the right lawyer in Texas is one of the most critical decisions you can make when facing a legal challenge. The attorney-client relationship is built on trust, clear communication, and the expectation of dedicated advocacy. For residents across Texas, particularly in San Antonio, it's essential to thoroughly research potential legal representatives to ensure their practices align with your needs and expectations for professional service.
This article will explore the Law Offices of Peter J. Stanton in San Antonio, providing publicly available information about his practice, including his location and areas of expertise. Crucially, we will also address significant client feedback to offer a comprehensive perspective. Our aim is to equip Texans with the information needed to make an informed decision when selecting legal counsel, emphasizing the importance of considering all aspects of a firm's reputation before making a commitment.
The Law Offices of Peter J. Stanton are located in the heart of San Antonio, Texas, making the office geographically accessible for clients within the city and the broader Texas region. The address is:
111 Soledad St Suite 470, San Antonio, TX 78205, USA
This central San Antonio location places the firm within a well-known professional and legal district. Such a position often offers convenience for clients in terms of proximity to local courthouses and public transportation options. While a convenient location is a practical benefit, it is one of many factors Texans should weigh when selecting legal representation. Accessibility in terms of communication and responsiveness, as discussed below, is equally vital for a productive attorney-client relationship.
Based on information from the State Bar of Texas, Peter J. Stanton is licensed to practice in Texas since 1982 and focuses on several key areas of law. His practice is generally described as a private law practice within the firm "The Law Offices of Peter J. Stanton." His primary areas of practice include:
- Business Law: This encompasses legal guidance for various business-related matters, which can include formation, contracts, transactions, and compliance.
- Consumer Law: Assisting individuals with legal issues related to consumer rights, disputes with businesses, and unfair practices.
- Creditor-Debtor Law: Handling legal matters involving debts, collections, and financial obligations between creditors and debtors.
- Litigation (Commercial): Representing clients in commercial disputes that proceed to court, encompassing a wide range of business-related lawsuits. This indicates a focus on resolving conflicts through legal action.
- Real Estate Law: Providing legal services related to property transactions, disputes, and other real estate matters.
- Civil Rights: Addressing legal issues related to the protection of individual civil rights.
His experience also extends to admission in several federal courts, including the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and various Texas District and Bankruptcy Courts (Northern, Southern, Western), indicating a breadth of experience in different judicial forums.
When assessing a lawyer, Texans typically seek strong advocacy, clear communication, and transparent billing. While Peter J. Stanton is noted as a "Trial attorney" by one reviewer, indicating a willingness to litigate, and has been recognized by Super Lawyers from 2021-2023 for Business Litigation, Real Estate, and Consumer Law (a peer-recognition and professional achievement award), it is imperative to address critical concerns raised by other clients. The provided negative reviews highlight several significant areas for consideration:
- Severe Communication Issues: A primary concern raised by a client is "Poor communication with clients" and a complete lack of progress on a case, stating he "did absolutely nothing to advance my case." Effective and consistent communication is a foundational pillar of ethical legal practice. Clients need to be kept informed about their case's status, strategy, and any developments. A lack of responsiveness can lead to significant client distress and undermine trust.
- Questionable Billing Practices: One client reported "exorbitant fees for minimal effort," specifically mentioning a "$350 for a 15-minute Zoom call" and "$175 to write a six-line letter." This raises serious concerns about billing transparency and proportionality of fees to services rendered. For Texans, understanding and agreeing to clear fee structures upfront is paramount, and feeling overcharged for minimal work erodes confidence.
- Lack of Progress and Perceived Inaction: The accusation that he "did absolutely nothing to advance my case" is highly alarming. Clients hire attorneys to actively work on their behalf and move their legal matters forward. A perceived lack of action can lead to wasted time and resources for the client.
- Client Dissatisfaction and Ethical Concerns: The client's strong statement, "This attorney is a scammer and seems more interested in milking his clients for money than providing any real legal assistance," indicates profound dissatisfaction and raises questions about ethical conduct. The advice to "Save yourself the headache and find a competent and honest attorney elsewhere" serves as a significant warning.
- State Board Reporting: While not explicitly stated for Peter J. Stanton in the provided reviews, the context of similar complaints often leads clients to consider reporting an attorney to the State Bar. This is a formal process for investigating alleged professional misconduct.
It is important for prospective clients in Texas to understand that while positive professional recognitions exist, direct client experiences, especially those highlighting severe issues, are crucial for comprehensive evaluation.
Information regarding specific promotions or special offers from the Law Offices of Peter J. Stanton is not publicly available in the provided data. Typically, law firms may offer initial consultations (some free, others charged) to discuss a case's merits and potential legal strategies. For Texans seeking legal assistance, it is always recommended to inquire directly with any law firm about their consultation fees, their overall fee structure (e.g., hourly rates, flat fees, contingency fees where applicable), and their billing practices. Given the critical feedback regarding billing, it would be particularly important for potential clients to obtain a clear, written agreement detailing all costs and expectations of service prior to engaging this firm.
For individuals in San Antonio, Texas, seeking legal services, the contact information for the Law Offices of Peter J. Stanton is:
Address: 111 Soledad St Suite 470, San Antonio, TX 78205, USA
Phone: (210) 472-0500
When contacting any legal professional, especially in light of the aforementioned client feedback, Texans are strongly advised to prepare a list of specific questions regarding the attorney's approach, communication frequency, expected timelines for case progress, and a detailed breakdown of all potential fees and charges before making any commitments.
For Texans in need of legal representation, the decision process should be approached with extreme care and thorough due diligence. While the Law Offices of Peter J. Stanton is centrally located in San Antonio and has practice areas covering business, consumer, real estate, and civil rights law, alongside professional recognitions like Super Lawyers, the provided client reviews present serious concerns that potential clients simply cannot overlook.
The feedback regarding "poor communication," charges for "minimal effort," and a perceived lack of action on cases are significant red flags that directly impact the core principles of a trustworthy attorney-client relationship. For any local resident in Texas, the suitability of a lawyer hinges on their ability to not only possess legal knowledge but also to consistently communicate, provide transparent billing, and actively work to advance their client's interests. Therefore, while Peter J. Stanton's firm is a local option, Texans are strongly advised to prioritize firms with consistently positive client reviews regarding responsiveness, ethical billing, and tangible progress on cases. It is always wise to thoroughly research and interview several attorneys, check their standing with the State Bar of Texas, and ensure complete comfort with their proposed service and fee structure before entrusting them with your legal matters.

I strongly advise against hiring Peter Stanton if you value your time and money. My experience with him was nothing short of a nightmare. Despite his initial promises, he did absolutely nothing to advance my case. Instead, he consistently charged me exorbitant fees for minimal effort. One particularly egregious instance was when he billed me $350 for a 15-minute Zoom call. To add insult to injury, he charged an outrageous $175 to write a six-line letter, which he insisted on sending with my final check. To top it all off, he even managed to write my name wrong on the check! This attorney is a scammer and seems more interested in milking his clients for money than providing any real legal assistance. Save yourself the headache and find a competent and honest attorney elsewhere.
If you have a problem, call Peter. Trial attorney that cuts thru paper pushing bloodsuckers on the other side.
