This article aims to provide an objective and informative overview of Sheppard, Uziel & Hendrickson Law Firm, located in the heart of San Francisco. We'll explore their services, location, and what you might expect if you're a local Californian considering their legal support.
Sheppard, Uziel & Hendrickson Law Firm is conveniently located at 423 Washington St #200, San Francisco, CA 94111, USA. This address places the firm in a central and historic part of San Francisco, making it quite accessible for residents across the Bay Area. Its downtown location means it's generally well-served by public transportation, including BART and Muni, which are popular options for navigating the city. While parking in downtown San Francisco can sometimes be a challenge, numerous public parking garages are typically available within a reasonable walking distance. The firm's presence in this bustling urban center positions them as a local resource for a wide array of legal needs for Californians, particularly those residing in San Francisco and its surrounding communities.
Sheppard, Uziel & Hendrickson Law Firm offers a broad range of legal services, catering to both individuals and businesses. Their practice areas demonstrate a focus on property-related law, alongside general civil litigation. Their services include:
- Real Estate Law: This is a significant focus for the firm. They handle various aspects of real estate, including property disputes, transactions (including "For Sale By Owner" or FSBO transactions), and other complex real property issues. Their expertise extends to helping clients navigate sales, purchases, and other real estate-related legalities.
- Landlord-Tenant Law: Given the active rental market in California, especially San Francisco, the firm provides extensive legal support for both landlords and tenants. This includes handling rent control issues, wrongful eviction cases, and general disputes that arise in rental agreements.
- Business and Commercial Litigation and Transactions: The firm assists businesses with various legal needs, from navigating complex commercial transactions to resolving business disputes through litigation or other means. This can involve contract disputes and other civil liability matters.
- Personal Injury Law (Tort Law/Premises Liability): For individuals who have suffered injuries due to negligence, the firm offers representation in personal injury cases. This can include premises liability claims, where injuries occur due to unsafe conditions on another's property.
- Wills, Trusts, Probate, & Estate Planning: They also offer services to help individuals plan for the future, including drafting wills and trusts, and assisting with probate matters.
- Mediation and Dispute Resolution: Recognizing the benefits of resolving disputes outside of traditional litigation, the firm also provides mediation services. Senior partner Robert J. Sheppard is noted as a private mediator who has successfully settled numerous high-value cases.
- Trials and Litigation: When disputes cannot be resolved amicably, the firm is prepared to represent clients in court through trials and other litigation processes.
While the firm has a long-standing presence in San Francisco, potential clients should be aware of various aspects that highlight their operations:
- Decades of Service: The firm has been serving clients since the late 1970s, indicating a long history in the San Francisco legal landscape. This longevity suggests a deep familiarity with California's legal intricacies, particularly in real estate and landlord-tenant matters which are frequently evolving.
- Focus on Key Local Issues: Their significant emphasis on real estate and landlord-tenant law, including rent control and wrongful eviction, directly addresses common legal concerns for residents and property owners in the San Francisco Bay Area. Partner Jaime C. Uziel is also a licensed California Real Estate Broker, providing valuable insight into real estate transactions.
- Emphasis on Mediation: Senior partner Robert J. Sheppard's role as a respected private mediator suggests an inclination towards alternative dispute resolution methods, which can often be more cost-effective and efficient for clients compared to prolonged litigation. He has reportedly settled a high percentage of cases through mediation.
- Experienced Attorneys: The firm features attorneys with substantial experience in their respective fields. For example, Robert J. Sheppard has been recognized as a "Super Lawyer of Northern California" for multiple years in real estate law and mediation. Jaime C. Uziel also holds a "Super Lawyer" selection for real estate.
- Technology and Resources: According to their public information, the firm prides itself on keeping up with the latest developments in technology and legal trends, utilizing a "state-of-the-art software legal library, computerized research resources and high-tech proficiency" to serve clients efficiently.
Regarding "promotions or special offers," the firm's publicly available information, particularly from third-party directories, indicates that Sheppard, Uziel & Hendrickson Law Firm may offer a free initial consultation. However, it's important to note that a direct review from a real customer explicitly states: "You have to pay $235 for a consultation to see if you want to work with them." This conflicting information suggests that their consultation policy might vary, or that the free consultation mentioned in some directories refers to a very brief initial intake. Given the direct client feedback, it is strongly advised for any potential client to confirm the exact cost and scope of an initial consultation directly with the firm when contacting them.

You have to pay $235 for a consultation to see if you want to work with them. Why would I pay to see if the terrible reviews here on Google Reviews are as bad as they say? Weird way to run a business. Hard pass
Please beware of this firm. They will do anything to push fear tactics so they can take on your case and not advise you in your best interest. I used them on a case that was even a non starter. I didn't even need their services but they swindled me into using them with fear tactics. It could have been resolved amicable with both parties. But this firm would do anything to drag on the hours. Other attorneys gave honest and ethical advice, unfortunately it was after I already took this firm on. This firm also wouldn't even return the excess retainer. Just not honest people.
I have used this firm on many occasions and have always gotten favorable results. They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Can’t recommend enough!
