When considering Skelton Slusher Barnhill Watkins Wells PLLC, several aspects of their practice come to light, which can be highlighted as features, though some areas also warrant careful consideration based on client feedback.
-
Board-Certified Attorneys: A significant highlight is that many of the firm's attorneys hold Board Certifications from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. This signifies a higher level of experience and specialized knowledge in specific practice areas, such as Personal Injury Trial Law, Estate Planning and Probate Law, Commercial Real Estate Law, and Oil and Gas Law. This expertise aims to provide clients with a higher level of advocacy.
-
Extensive Experience: The firm emphasizes its attorneys' combined experience of over 70 years in civil litigation and transactional law. This extensive background suggests a deep understanding of legal processes and a track record of resolving various legal matters.
-
Broad Range of Practice Areas: Their comprehensive service offering, from personal injury to complex natural resource law, demonstrates their capacity to address a wide array of legal needs for individuals and businesses in East Texas.
-
Client-Focused Support (Positive Aspect): One client review specifically praises "Amazing staff very friendly and helpful. Misty Fisher was very knowledgeable and really made everything so easy to understand and worked very quickly." This indicates that at least some members of their team provide excellent client service, characterized by clarity, efficiency, and helpfulness.
-
Concerns Regarding Conflicts of Interest and Case Management (Area for Consideration): However, it is crucial for prospective clients to be aware of the negative feedback. One review explicitly states, "They have no discretion for conflicts of interest in the cases that they accept," and describes an incident where confidential information was allegedly mishandled, leading to concerns about the firm's handling of multiple cases involving the same property and a lack of progress for over a year. This suggests potential issues with case management, internal communication, and adherence to ethical guidelines concerning conflicts, which are vital for any legal practice.
-
Responsiveness and Communication (Area for Consideration): The negative review also mentions that the firm "has been of no assistance to me or to the county from what it seems" and raises concerns about "tricks or games." This implies a potential lack of transparency and proactive communication in some instances, which is a critical factor for clients seeking legal assistance.
As a professional legal services firm, Skelton Slusher Barnhill Watkins Wells PLLC, like most reputable law practices, does not typically offer "promotions" or "special offers" in the consumer retail sense. Their primary value proposition is their legal expertise, experience, and the diligent representation they provide. The firm's commitment, as stated on their website, is to offer "diligent, cost-effective legal representation" and to "tailor our strategies based on the specific issues surrounding your legal problem."
For those considering their services, it is always advisable to inquire about their fee structures during the initial consultation. Legal fees can vary significantly depending on the complexity of the case, the time involved, and the specific services required. Transparency in billing and clear communication about expected costs are vital elements of a professional attorney-client relationship. Prospective clients in Texas should feel comfortable asking about hourly rates, flat fees, contingency arrangements (if applicable for personal injury cases), and any potential additional costs at the outset.

They have no discretion for conflicts of interest in the cases that they accept. One attorney has sent me the deed and offer letter to someone else's property when I was supposed to be receiving one for my property, this information being sent to me allowed me to see that this company is trying to pay out nothing towards my land for their client and also the case where the private and confidential information of someone else's that was sent to me, they offered twice the amount for half the amount of land and yet it's been over a year and this company has done nothing to move forward with the process and also has allowed conflicting information to be input into both cases in which this one attorney is opposing me for the same piece of property and has been of no assistance to me or to the county from what it seems. Hopefully this can be addressed properly and the situation to be corrected but with the experience I've had with this one attorney in particular it doesn't seem like that is going to happen any time soon and without so e kind of tricks or games to be involved.
Amazing staff very friendly and helpful. Misty Fisher was very knowledgeable and really made everything so easy to understand and worked very quickly.
Very unprofessional. Called to make an appointment for consult after explaining in full detail. Appointment time came around and I showed up early only to find out that she wasn’t even available that day. Called a few more times over two weeks time. Was told they will get back with you and finally scheduled me another appointment. Morning of appointment and told they can’t help me due to conflict of interest. Thanks for wasting my time.
We are working to pull together a family members many legal documents for end of life. They have been very helpful in working towards the documents our family member needs.
Great firm to work with. Entire staff is responsive and professional.
