It needs to be clarified, that I already knew about this “law firm”. Moreover, I have an official e-mail in which attorney indicated below offering exactly what I need. It did not count when I decided to go with that offer. My in person “consultation” appointment was with attorney Francisco Symphorien - Saavedra. I was looking to understand how this law firm different from others, how they treat people, how organized they are, what amount of money do I need to have to proceed, how safe and secure my personal information will be and how reliable will be the whole process. The first serious thing that caught my attention was the “main method of payment” you get offered is the one where you have to provide your bank card information over the phone, which I did not and paid in cash in their office. The “consultation” was scheduled for 11 am in the morning. I arrived for my “consultation” at 10:40 am. I started worrying when the clock showed 11 am and the conference room where I was seated remained empty. There was nobody to offer explanation. Considering it was morning, such common niceties as coffee would be a sign of good manners and the way to get you comfortable. But there was absolutely nothing. Then 14 minutes later, at 11:14 am attorney finally appeared. And by the look of his appearance one could say that he was nervous and disoriented. Frustratingly, first 6 minutes of 30 minutes “consultation” were spent to verify personal information. While you are waiting for your appointment staff members in the office should check your personal information to save those precious and expensive minutes, but not in this case obviously. To my surprise, the rest of the “consultation” attorney never looked at me and while listening and speaking he was blatantly working with his notebook and smartphone. Unbelievable! I paid for expensive “consultation” to observe how my paid time was spend on something else. That is the most unethical behavior ever! Being a member of AILA, The Florida Bar and display such disregard to their rules, rules of professional conduct and what is much more important to the person that sitting right there in front of you, it is just appalling. During the “consultation” I also observed a complete detachment to my situation, absolute absence of compassion, no genuine interest in the case, lack of informative explanation and general details. What happened later was totally unacceptable and this is where I started to have doubts and think that this attorney is actually not what he presents about himself. In the part of the “consultation” where attorney was describing the cost of his labor, he spontaneously insisted to take mandamus case with immigration case only, but then changed that statement back. When I encountered that kind of “push” or “pitch” to get me to sign up for multiple cases, I felt like I am at a second grade law firm which was trying to sell me on as much as possible. I considered it as a highly unprofessional trick. The “consultation” was finalized in 11:43 with only 29 minutes of total time and attorney literally running out of the conference room. Although my spouse and I were disappointed with this “law firm”, considering specificity of the situation we decided to see how it goes, take time and save some money to avoid unnecessary financial stress. After necessary amount of money was saved, my spouse contacted attorney and received official response. Reply contained a business offer with the new price. Before sign a contract, my spouse and I, taking into account all the details and information that we had at the moment, decided that it would be precisely right to write an e-mail with our questions and doubts. We were looking for some honesty. Response did not followed. Instead, I wrote a second e-mail and reply was that this “law firm” all of a sudden cannot proceed with the case because of the reasons never discussed before, and have nothing to do with the case. What a surprise! What happened speaks for itself and speaks volume.
