Roboostoff & Kalkin, A Professional Law Corporation, offers a comprehensive suite of legal services focused on protecting individuals in vulnerable situations against larger entities like insurance companies and employers. Their practice areas are designed to help clients navigate challenging obstacles to fair treatment and access to benefits. Key services offered include:
-
Disability Claims (ERISA & Private Policy Benefits): This is a cornerstone of their practice. They provide seasoned counsel from initial claim preparation to the appeal of denied claims. They handle both private disability insurance claims and those governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), which often apply to employer-provided benefits. Their goal is to help clients secure the long-term or short-term disability benefits they are rightfully owed, including dealing with issues like disability surveillance and complex medical definitions of disability.
-
Insurance Bad Faith: The firm helps clients who have suffered physical injuries, property damage, or have had legitimate insurance claims unlawfully denied. They hold insurance companies accountable for their responsibilities, challenging instances where insurers avoid paying claims or deny legitimate claims without proper cause. This includes a wide range of insurance policies, not just disability.
-
Personal Injury: For clients injured due to another party's negligence, whether in car accidents, workplace accidents, or instances of malpractice, Roboostoff & Kalkin works to ensure medical and financial needs are met. They meticulously investigate injuries and financial hardships to demonstrate needs to liable insurance providers, aiming to maximize recovery for damages like medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
-
Employment Law: They represent employees who have faced unfair treatment in the workplace, including issues such as discrimination, harassment (including sexual harassment), hostile work environments, wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes. They combat employer retaliation and strive to ensure fair treatment under employment law regulations. They also assist with severance package negotiations.
-
Civil Appeals: If a legal decision in any of their practice areas was not favorable at the trial level, Roboostoff & Kalkin can lead clients through the civil appeals process. They utilize exceptional research, writing, and presentation skills to challenge errors made by an attorney, judge, or jury at the trial level, seeking a more favorable outcome. They have handled numerous cases in both California and Federal courts of appeal.
-
Benefit Collection (Pension & Severance): Beyond disability, they also help clients with other employee benefit claims, including pension claims and advising on and negotiating severance agreements to protect employees' best interests.
Roboostoff & Kalkin, A Professional Law Corporation, distinguishes itself through several key features and highlights that directly benefit their Californian clientele:
-
Client-Centered Approach and Empathy: A recurring theme in testimonials, as seen in the provided customer review, is the firm's empathetic and listening approach. Clients consistently praise attorneys like William Reilly for making them "feel comfortable by listening" and caring about their problems, distinguishing them from other firms. This human-centered focus is invaluable when dealing with sensitive and difficult personal situations like disability or wrongful termination.
-
Deep Specialization in Disability and Insurance Law: The firm possesses extensive experience, particularly in fighting for disability benefits (both ERISA and private policies) and against insurance bad faith. They are well-versed in the tactics insurance companies use to deny claims and have a proven track record of forcing companies to abide by their policies. This specialization is critical for navigating the complex regulations and aggressive tactics often employed by large insurers.
-
Proven Success Against Large Entities: Testimonials highlight the firm's success in compelling insurance companies to pay out legitimate claims. For instance, William Reilly "successfully fought for my disability claim, forcing the company to continue abiding by their insurance policy." This demonstrates their tenacity and effectiveness in holding powerful entities accountable.
-
Comprehensive Legal Guidance: Clients appreciate the firm's ability to clearly explain the legal process and provide guidance at every step. The review notes, "Through the process, he was amazing and helping us understand what was going on and pursuing the matter," indicating their commitment to client education and transparency.
-
Broad Expertise Across Related Fields: While specializing in disability, their practice extends to personal injury, employment law, and civil appeals. This breadth allows them to handle interconnected issues, providing a holistic legal solution for clients who might face multiple legal challenges stemming from a single event (e.g., a workplace injury leading to a disability claim and an employment dispute).
-
Decades of Combined Experience: The firm boasts attorneys with "decades of experience," leveraging a wealth of knowledge in their respective practice areas to achieve favorable results for their clients.
-
Free Consultation Offered: Roboostoff & Kalkin offers a free initial consultation, allowing potential clients to discuss their situation without immediate financial commitment and understand the importance of experienced legal guidance. This accessibility is a crucial benefit for those seeking legal help.
Roboostoff & Kalkin, A Professional Law Corporation, like many highly specialized legal firms, does not typically offer "promotions" or "special offers" in the retail sense. Their value proposition is built on their expertise, experience, and the significant results they strive to achieve for their clients in critical legal matters.
However, the "offer" from Roboostoff & Kalkin can be understood through the significant advantages and client-friendly approaches they provide:
-
Free Initial Consultation: This is a tangible "offer" that immediately benefits potential clients. By providing a free consultation, Roboostoff & Kalkin allows individuals to discuss their complex disability, insurance, or employment issues, receive initial advice, and understand their legal options without any upfront financial commitment. This compassionate approach, as noted in client testimonials, helps establish comfort and trust from the very first interaction.
-
Contingency Fee Arrangements (for eligible cases): While not explicitly stated for all services, many personal injury, disability, and some employment law firms operate on a contingency fee basis. This means clients typically pay no attorney fees unless the firm secures a successful outcome (a settlement or verdict) in their case. This significantly reduces the financial risk for clients who are often already in vulnerable positions due to injury or denied benefits. It's advisable to confirm fee structures during the free consultation.
-
Personalized and Empathetic Service: As highlighted by client experiences, the firm offers a level of personal attention and genuine care that sets them apart. This commitment to listening and providing clear, supportive guidance throughout a challenging legal process is a significant, albeit intangible, "offer" that builds client confidence and reduces stress.
-
Strong Advocacy Against Large Corporations: For individuals going up against powerful insurance companies or large employers, the firm's track record and aggressive representation act as a crucial "offer." They are dedicated to "successfully fighting for disability claims, forcing the company to continue abiding by their insurance policy," which is the ultimate benefit for their clients.
These aspects collectively represent the firm's commitment to accessibility and client success, making their services highly valuable for Californians in need of expert legal assistance during challenging times. Prospective clients are encouraged to utilize the free consultation to understand how these benefits apply to their specific situation.

In 2021 because of a foot problem My wife had to go out on disability. We contacted our insurance company and they told us she wasn’t covered even though we’ve been paying for for years I called around the several disability Attorneys. I didn’t get the feeling they cared. Nobody listened to anything about the case. They just said yes they could cover us and told us the fees. I finally spoke to Bill Reilly at Roboostof. Right from the start, he made me feel comfortable by listening to what our problem was. He gave us some advice on what to do And told us what the process would be Through the process, he was amazing and helping us understand what was going on And pursuing the matter we can’t thank him enough for his guidance to this very hard time I don’t know what we would’ve done without his help
William Reilly has successfully fought for my disability claim, forcing the company to continue abiding by their insurance policy.
I was an RN and got injured at work. My employer's disability policy covered me for 2 years, then cut me off saying I was able to do various types of work that I was not able or qualified to do. Constantin Roboostoff got them to pay my long term disability without having to go to court. He had me do some research and writing up why I could not do the jobs they claimed I could. I believe this saved me a lot of $$. Bottom line: Constantin Roboostoff got me $3k per month until I turn 66, so about 11 years worth, and it cost me under $5K.
I was a 56 year old partner with a law firm in downtown San Francisco when a complex confluence of medical conditions eventually made it impossible for me to work any longer. At that time, I turned to Constantin Roboostoff to handle my disability claim with my insurer. Later, I had Constantin handle the arbitration of my claims against my firm, which was wrongfully and maliciously withholding money it owed me. Constantin did a outstanding job in both of these matters. In the disability action, Constantin got the insurer to pay on the policy without my having to file litigation. This was truly an accomplishment by Constantin, as I didn't have any diagnosis from my many doctors at the time I originally filed the claim with the disability insurer. Notwithstanding this disadvantage, Constantin carefully strategized and pursued the claim, while I worked with my doctors to determine the source of my medical conditions. Eventually, after the insurer had initially denied the claim, my doctors arrived at a diagnosis of fibromyalgia (in addition to a number of previously identified subsidiary conditions). Because Constantin had carefully prepared my case, he was able to have the insurer reverse its own decision once my doctors had reached the fibromyalgia diagnosis. Constantin didn't even have to file a lawsuit in order to get the insurer to pay on the claim. With regard to the arbitration against my former partners, Constantin patiently worked to maneuver the firm into a position where they agreed to pay nearly 100% of what they owed me, without my having to incur significant legal bills. As Constantin was working with a partnership agreement that did not provide for a "prevailing party" legal fee provision, he was at a significant disadvantage, but still managed to obtain a very favorable resolution that allowed me not only to receive nearly all of the moneys that I was claiming but also allowed me to retain all of my other potential non-contract claims (i.e., tort and discrimination) against the firm. To accomplish this, Constantin also had to deal with "personalities" at my previous firm, as the matter had become very personal in nature, as these matters often do. Because my policy coverage extends for a number more years, and given the likelihood that I will not be able again to work in my current field, I will be continuing to work with Constantin as necessary in the future, both as to the disability carrier and also as to any issues that will need to be resolved with my firm. I have worked with many attorneys over the years, and Constantin Roboostoff is absolutely one of the finest. He is very seasoned in both the disability and employment areas, and he is an excellent litigator. He is also a good person, easy to work with and sensitive to his clients and their needs when they are disabled or otherwise challenged. Words cannot completely express how fine an attorney he is.
